The Cut Network
As a transferring freshman I joined The Cut Network in order to get behind the scene and studio experience never thinking I'd become a reporter myself.

I found I absolutely loved reporting and perhaps discovered a new career path to pursue through The Cut Network.

When not reporting I often operated the cameras and became the de facto prompt operator for season 15 (Fall 2022). In Season 16 (Spring 2023) I learned how to operate the sound booth and run graphics during a live show.

Adobe Premiere Advanced Techniques Video
In this video, I capture a series of different shots around Civic Space Park in Downtown Phoenix. The first shot is an extreme long shot of a man walking down the sidewalk that runs the length of the park toward Arizona State University's downtown campus. The second shot is an extreme close-up of a woman texting her mother while in the park before heading back to class. The third shot is a long shot of a man climbing one of the many trees in the park. The fourth is a close-up of a pigeon staring at the camera. The fifth and final shot is a medium shot of a man dancing down the steps in Civic Space Park in a reminiscent fashion of Joaquin Phoenix in the "Joker."

Explainer Video
In this episode of Carly's Kitchen, you will learn how to make a family favorite of mine, apple dumplings. Every year between October- December my mother (Lisa Poirier) would make these apple dumplings for us. We would go up to the Greenbluff farm area of Spokane, Washington, and pick out the apples. This recipe holds a lot of sentimental value for my family and also makes a great addition to the holiday dessert table for any other family. They're quick and easy to make with as much effort on the baker's part as you choose.

Instructions:
1.) Turn oven on to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
2.) Peel and core each apple; set apples in a bowl of water to keep them from drying out.
3.) Sprinkle flour on the counter then roll out each pie crust
4.) In a small bowl, mix 1/2 of sugar and 1/2 tsp of cinnamon together. Then take 1 tbsp butter and divide it into fourths.
5.) Take pie crusts and divide each one into four pieces. Place an apple on each slice. Wrap the pie slices around the apples, leaving a hole in the center for the filling.
6.) Fill each apple with the cinnamon sugar mixture placing a piece of butter near the top of the filling.
7.) In a medium-sized saucepan, turn the stove on to medium heat, pour 2 cups water, 1/4 tsp cinnamon, 1 cup sugar, 3 tbsp butter and a dash of nutmeg. Boil then remove from heat to thicken.
8.) Spray the baking dish with cooking spray, then place the apples in the dish. Pour enough sauce to cover the bottom of the baking dish.
9.) Put apples in the oven and then set the timer for 45 minutes.
10.) When finished, put each apple in an individual bowl and pour sauce over the apple.
11.) ENJOY your apple dumpling!

News Feature Video
Phoenix Pride held its 42nd annual parade and festival on Oct. 21-22. The festival, which is the largest Pride event in Arizona, took place at Steel Indian School Park with 150 entertainment performances across 7 stages set around the park. The theme for 2023 was "United Against Hate" a call for everyone in the LGTBQ+ community and allies to come together and support the queer community after 500 bills were introduced in legislatures across the country at the beginning of the year. Jeremy Helfgot along with 2023's Mister and Miss Phoenix Pride explain why Phoenix Pride and this year's theme are so important to not only the LGBTQ+ community but to everyone who wishes to have a safe and welcoming environment to call home.

This video is a collage of the ambient sounds of going and ordering a drink from a cafe. The first sound is the street outside of the cafe with people walking and cars passing by, someone's keys are jingling in their pocket as they walk away. The second sound is the inside of the cafe as someone waits in line to order their drink, the barista can be heard hitting the portafilter against a ledge to deposit the old espresso into the trash. The third sound is the clipboard menu being taken out of the metal holder and being looked through. The fourth sound is the portafilter being filled with espresso grounds and the grinder grounding the espresso beans. Finally, the fifth sound is the barista filling the cup with ice and finishing the drink she made.

The second interview I did with Tyler Abrams a fellow Arizona State University student. Abrams is a journalism student at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications. In a previous interview, we discussed what Abrams's future plans are after he graduates from the Cronkite School. This time we discussed how he spends his time at the Cronkite School when he's not in class.
